    Thanks guys. I sent HSM an email. I will let you know what they say. I did do a through cleaning of the rifle as one of the first steps. I used hoppes #9 followed by Sweets 7.62 until the blue green stopped followed up with a hoppes patch to clean out the ammonia based sweets.

    I put an adjustable Williams rear peep https://www.amazon.com/Williams-FP-99S-Sight-Target-Knobs/dp/B01NB1ILI4 that was tall enough to overcome the front sight height. I didn't end up using the adjustment knobs in the fields but they could act like a CDS turret if you wanted.

    I sent in a set of SLC 10*42 that I had had for about 10 years. They suddenly became unusable with the focus spinning freely. Swaro identified the problem said that it was caused by dropping them. and fixed if for $300. I certainly have dropped by binoculars been bucked off a horse with them...

    I put the lee shaver insert on for a nevada hunt last fall and it is definitely worth it. everything else covers way to much of the target. you can also learn to use a 6 oclock hold and a fine post. the fine crosshair sight was just like a scope for me.

    I hunt the big belts a fair amount. Lots of big bulls on the south end, also a lot of private. you will likely need to be north of deep creek (highway 12) to benefit from packing in. Good luck.

    MT now allows you to purchase points as long as you are at least 1 year old even for species during a waiting period. I tried to purchase points for my twins last fall but the system could not handle an age of zero so FWP would not allow me to purchase the points.
