Your top 5 Montana brews

Time to stir the pot.

I don’t drink IPAs, and I’m not from Montana- been here 4 years and change, originally from the Midwest, and had more than my fair share of brews living there. And I’m thoroughly unimpressed by Montana’s beer.

With that said:

Bayern Bakkenbock
Bayern Dump Truck
Highlander? Ditch Parrot
Meadowlark Nice Marmot
Carter’s Kolsch

Bozeman brewers needs to lay off the weed and realize not everybody wants overhopped beers, and the entire state needs a lesson in proper carbonation levels at elevation- it’s annoying.
do you dress up your pint with a slice of orange, or maybe a mini umbrella?

MAP Midas Crush is the best IPA.
My Ruca from Draught Works is the best Pale Ale. (Lee Metcalf from Bridger Brewery - their only really good beer IMO - is a very close second).
Red Lodge Helio Hefeweizen is the best wheat beer.

Great Northern Brewing Company Wild Huckleberry
Meadowlark Brewing Company Harvester and Harvester Peach Wheat Ale
Busted knuckle Middle of Nowhere Raspberry Blonde
Salmon Fly Honey Rye
Jeremiah Johnson Bolden Bobcat Pale Ale

Not necessarily in that order

FWIW, my cousin’s husband is the owner of Draught Works.

I took a growler of their 1910 Fire Smoked Porter to my Father-in-Law. He made me laugh telling me the story of drinking it. He said he had a glass, stood up to go get another one, had to sit back down… “that beer is STRONG!”

"Best" is subjective, but you've got some good ones listed.

My favorites:
- Bozone Gallatin Pale
-Bozone Hopzone
-Bridger Lee Metcalf Pale
-Madison River Hopper Pale
-Map Strange Cattle
-Red Lodge Bent Nail
-Big Sky Scapegoat (I don't think they brew this one anymore)

Throw in my favorite Summertime, hot day, just mowed the lawn, fruity beer...Highlander Strawberry Wheat

I don't usually like the fruity/hoppy style beers that most others seem to indulge in. I like to be able to chew on my beers. here are 4 that come to mind for me. There are some good beers in some of the small town breweries that aren't mentioned here.

Bayern Face Plant
Copper Furrow Mexican Lager
Kettlehouse Coldsmoke
Missouri River Wee Heavy (not sure they still make it as I can never find it anymore)

For #5 I am going to cop out and take my own homebrew as I have a couple recipes I really like.

Great Northern Brewing Company Wild Huckleberry
Meadowlark Brewing Company Harvester and Harvester Peach Wheat Ale
Busted knuckle Middle of Nowhere Raspberry Blonde
Salmon Fly Honey Rye
Jeremiah Johnson Bolden Bobcat Pale Ale

Not necessarily in that order
I’m curious to see what happens to the Golden Bobcat. I’m not sure it’s going to be sold as that in the future.
