Tom I just read a Statistic that Most Alaskans die at Age 58 and over... but the rest of them die at an earlier age. I found that to be an cool Statistic !!!! Have you heard of that before ?

It seems like they should be pretty healthy up there, live a long time. What was the point of the 58 there? 2 moose would be awesome, some more caribou, I hope its happening!

He's waiting for them to report how the shower works, I figured that out. You put water in it, you turn it on, that's how it works. For real, no pretending, I'm betting on it. I wonder how the hunting is going today though?

I haven't looked up life stats in AK. I'm thinking their life style is healthy so they live longer, but their access to medical care is worse, so they die earlier. 58 is dieing young for the US. I'll bet very few of them die in an auto accident on the express way though! Most of the people live longer than 40 too, the rest die younger, if the first one is true, that's true too. What's the point, 58, 40, that's the question?

What do you think of the bear electric wire deterent noharley? It seems like a good idea to me, but its a lot of money for an untested thing. Where's the stats on that thing working? There's some good ideas that don't work, but it seems like a good idea to me.

Now I've been shocked by bare electric wires before and it hurt but I wasn't after a moose or caribou. Would bear electric wire work on wolves? It might I think.

Yeah, was it a warm shower or a cold shower, how does that work? The wire might work better at protecting the tent and sleeping bags than it would the pile of meat, which is probably an even more rare event. Buzz had his camp torn apart though, by brown bears.

That Dr. Tom Smith has apparently done a study on bear attackes in Alaska and come up with recommendations. Chris Batin writes about it, he's a guy who knows a lot on Alaska, I think he wrote that comprehensive book on hunting and fishing there,

Tom Smith is a PhD bear biologist in Alaska, not Texas. He thinks its a good idea for a long term camp situation. I'm not worried about the bears. The camp stuff, my head, I don't want to wake up 3am looking for my flashlight and gun with a headache from a bear grip. So, it happens less than a category 5 hurricane?, I bet it happens more, but I don't know.

Like say, you had a pile of moose meat, and several caribou all piled up right near camp. Any self respecting bear would come check that out if he was in the area.

I don't think he worried about bears. But, if a bear would maul you, make a mess out of it, and you couldn't take it anymore, then he'd be right there ready to help. Bears kept his line of business open.

I'm thinking they will have had bears in camp, but I don't know that area.

Last year, I saw 10 grizzlies within a week of hunting. One was about 30 yards behind the tent, a big track, two were on shore to the left and to the right of camp about 70 yards the last night. We saw wet spots on shore in the morning. 3 of them were about 200 yards out when we got up that last morning. I wish we didn't have to have a guide, we could have got some grizzlies.

We need to know more about what he read for it to make sense.

So, what do you think Jose, did they have a bear in camp or not? I'm looking for one of those $39 shockers, its a good idea.
