My wife and I have fished Yellowstone Lake for over three decades. It is one of our activities during the summer until fall hunting. We have watched the lake trout take over the Lake and kill the cutthroats. What we have found is that we catch fewer cutthroats but they have gotten much bigger. All cutthroats must be released, but we must kill all lake trout we land and we smoke them and enjoy eating them. the lake trout become very difficult to catch later in the season because they go to deep water.

We troll hardware with leaded line but many cast to trout and others use flies. There is some fishing from shore at the beginning of the season.

If you or any of your friends want more information about visiting and/or fishing Yellowstone Lake send me a p.m. The campground is Bridge Bay. There are good boats to rent at the marina. And there are very good guided fishing boats available too. There is a hourly tour boat (The Queen) that is worth the $16 ticket.

One of the biggest cutthroats we have ever caught. A monster.

Nice fish. My biggest cutthroat was also from the lake. I'm hoping to get back up there this summer. Might have to give the lake trout a try.

We were in Yellowstone for National Parks week, and the roads were still closed to the lake. Hopefully we can make a summer trip there, looks amazing.

If you knew the right people, you could get paid for that removal of trash fish. Good job.
