Wyoming west general 2024 LATE planning

Quick update for those following along. Lots of hunters but so much space to hunt we have seen only a few distant orange hats in the field.
Lots of cows but not many bulls in evidence. Some bugles this morning helped us, but we couldn’t reach them in time before they melted into the trees. Back at it tomorrow.

I'd look a little higher with this weather. I saw lots of bulls last week and most were 8500' ish.

We’ve met some very friendly locals. Shout out to wyomingites Robert and son Carson who were amazing ambassadors for their state, giving us rides to and from the seasonal closure gate in their side by side, and discussing some hunt plans. A good example I would hope to follow myself!
As I’d mentioned previously we’ve seen lots of camps but hardly anyone where we’re hunting.

Yeah that sounds about right but the only bulls we’ve seen have been with cows which I assume is a sign of immaturity this time of year? Ie the larger bulls have given up and gone nocturnal and found sanctuary. So there’s an entire age class we haven’t located, as far as I understand.

Still on that herd, I keep zigging and they keep zagging. Son has taken up his day job on the starlink at camp so I’m solo now.

Back in Texas now, enjoying my usual bout of hyperphagia after time in the mountains. Will get this writeup written up soon enough, for the amusement of all.

I had been planning to cash out in Wyoming after all the price increases and whatnot, but I kind of get it now. SO MUCH area available to hunt, we barely scratched the surface. Need more time to spend there.
