Wyoming Turkey '25

Congrats. I got a rejection email from South Dakota yesterday. Now I’m trying to figure out where to go instead. Probably Missouri or Nebraska.

Yup.

Don't apologize for having to spend $2,100 on a freaking elk tag just to get to elk hunt. And I ate tag soup. Shot a rag horn last time on my $1,200 tag. Now i'm about to have my first kid and likely won't get to elk hunt Wyoming again for 6-7 years because I'd rather invest money in my kid's future than spend the money on an overpriced elk tag.

I waited 6 years, spent nearly $1,000 on a tag, and busted my butt 2 weeks just to shoot 134" buck. Didn't even name the zone in the post. The Hunting Public has been pimping Iowa for since ~2017 and all of Iowa is feeling the impacts.

I told someone San Carlos was a circus opening weekend last turkey season. So what?

Even comparing a non-spot burning Hunt Talk post to the spot burning YouTube videos that collectively have millions of views....

Wow, quite the mental gymnastics there!

I didn't burn any spots. Don't trash non-resident hunters if you too are hunting out-of-state. As Uncle Randy likes to point out, we're all non-residents in 49 states. I happen to be a resident in one of those states in my original post.

Dude, i'm not trashing non-resident hunters. I'm trashing the folks who've caused so much loss of hunting opportunity for turkey hunters. Like KS, NE, and SD mentioned in this thread.

I almost feel bad.. I drew a sodak merriams tag on my first attempt
Have a great hunt! South Dakota has some beautiful country. I think I got a really cool out of state hunt lined up yesterday plus I always have fun turkey hunting my home state even though I have to travel a bit. There are a few turkeys showing up along the north shore of Superior now. Maybe in 10 years I’ll be hearing gobbles close to home.

Just curious, do you have any insight on what weekend would be best to go? Part of me wants to be there on opening Saturday, but I worry if there's still a chance for a late snow, and maybe I should wait a week or two.

Nope. Maybe one of the South Dakotans will chime.
