Wyoming elk special NR draw

Do you laugh out loud or just grin a little bit every time you post that you pay next to nothing for Wyoming and Montana?

I deserve cheap tags in Wyoming as a Resident.

The one I laugh about is Montana...tried to tell them I'd be taking them to the cleaners if they passed that law. Oh well....

@buzz this is a serious question why hasn't the app date changed. It use to be tags got issued way early. Then because seasons weren't even set the draw got changed to later with your help. Why doesn't the app date get moved back to after seasons get set? I dont see the benefit of keeping old date and actually probably costs more to have all the changing that people have to do. Also who can do the app date change game and fish or does legislation have to do that? We have seen how great lately they have been with a few bills and would hate for them to have to get involved.

In addition to Buzz's comment about outfitters wanting first crack at NR Elk hunters, which Gilliland (WYOGA) stated to the Commission, Sy Gilliland also told them, having the NR Elk results come out prior to the Deer/Antelope application deadline would allow NR who didn't draw Elk, to then apply for D/A, increasing applications and revenue to the Dept. And he was correct, although anybody that follows WY, knows they have experienced year over year increases in NR applications since they started the NR draw. The increases happened (no surprise), NR have plenty of time to modify their apps after final quotas are out, and in my opinion, I don't believe the Commission sees any reason to change the Jan app period and May NR results dates.

The only voice a NR has is thru WYOGA, and they only recognize the NR that has a WYOGA member outfitter name on the payee line of a check. As the saying goes, it's just business.
