My 2019 hunt was one to remember, but to start off I found out I was having my first child right before the hunting season started. So I knew my hunting time was going to be limited to try and get it done. So I figured I would put in for a unit that has been notoriously hard for me to draw and see how it would turn out and of course I drew the tag! You could say my wife was pleased by this haha but anyway I told her I would forgo the archery season and try to get my elk during the rifle season and I had one weekend to do it. So waiting for this weekend to come felt like the longest wait almost as long as the birth of my first kid....almost.

So the weekend to hunt finally came and I had a buddies dad that had the same tag so we went to a spot we knew that held elk to try to find them right away since a storm was coming on the same weekend. There was already a couple of inches on the ground which made for good hunting but we knew it was about to get worse which gave us some urgency to find some elk, and wouldn’t you know it a hour into the hunt we found a bachelor heard of bulls working up the draw and we made the sneak on them but by the time we got there they had fed off to somewhere we didn’t know, so after feeling like we lost them we worked up to a large rock and started glassing in a different draw we thought they might be and bingo they were still up feeding up the draw. We got set up and did the count down and knocked down two 6 point bulls one being a really good one! It happened fast once we found them again. It made for a long pack out trying to get two bulls out but it was worth the pain and a memory that will last forever. It’s a season I won’t forget especially having my son around to try and tell the story too.

Congrats to you and your wife on the birth of your child. Nice job on two god bulls!

Congrats on the boy and the bull! Is it just me or does the symmetry between those two bulls look really similar? Maybe father/son combo?

Thank You but I’m not sure there was some similarities to them and they were hanging together, so possibly I guess you never truly know.

That’s awesome! As a dad with 3 kids I’ll tell ya, right now is the easiest time. Once those things become mobile is when the headaches start. Enjoy the eat, sleep, poop and cry portion it’s all downhill or an uphill battle after this, dealers choice haha. Congrats..on everything!

We did the count down

1st, congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your son.

"We did the count down..." Still shaking my head about this, it never happened to me. Stellar🍾
