Wyoming Antelope Application Choices

Stream trout fishing out west is a little different than lake fishing here in the Midwest.
Yes, there is a lot of public access out west but most of it is not exactly "free". Maybe so for residents but most NR hunters stand little chance of gaining access to public without a large number of Points or paying big $$ for a special .... at least for any GOOD public access. I don't think most people are going to want to drive all the way out there with all the expenses to hunt subpar public land.

I can hunt Elk/Deer/Pronghorn next year as a NR and not need a single point. Some tags might be a bit expensive but so is everything else in life. Get a 2nd job if you need to; you can drive Uber and make enough to pay for every western tag you can draw. Access for every species won't be a problem, but you might have to hike a mile or two. This NR hunting thing isn't that hard to figure out; Newberg has a ton of videos basically holding your hand.
As for expense, over the last 55 years, I've killed more bulls wearing a bob fratzke sweater and a pair of lee 88 jeans than I ever will in the new technical clothing. Anybody hunting Whitetail back east has everything they need to hunt Elk out west as far a weapon goes, and you can wear the same clothing. You can sleep in the back of your rig on the side of the road out here, not much expense in that.

Not to mention anything you might need can be found used these days. I think half of my hunting gear I own I have bought second hand.

It constantly baffles me that guys come on hunting forums asking about the gear they need to go hunt, out west or anywhere, and they get a litany of high dollar equipment that is "required", complete BS. Warm protective clothing, basic equipment to take care of your game, gun/bow that you can hit where you aim and go hunt.
That's what marketing has done to the outdoors over the last four decades sadly. None of it's needed and I tell the young ones this all the time. An elk is dead with a good shot whether it's an old Savage 99 or a $10k custom rifle. They won't know the difference. We have fallen into the trap way to long.

If you had private land lined out with a trespass fee in one of the few areas that you can draw, you can put that as your 2nd choice AND HOPE TO DRAW 1ST CHOICE RANDOMLY
