Wyoming 2022 draw results!!!!

I can't make any comment without snark right now...loving my resident benefits! At least I can hunt general elk. But my 12-yr old son was looking forward to his first antelope hunt this year, that apparently will not be had.

Cow tags for a gen unit for me and both sons. Wife drew a 124 cow tag. Should be plenty of fun for all.

Pretty good type 1 elk tag. Buck and a couple doe antelope tags.

Somehow missed a second choice whitetail doe tag that has leftovers.

Also missed a rut mule deer hunt I was pretty excited about.

Good to be a resident again.

Large party apps were the problem as I expected seeing us both strike out - I really don't think its appropriate to have a swing like this - this is nearly bait and switch. Wyoming also needs to work on their math as this is bizarre. Also I think I see why alot of people aren't drawing:
A total of 20 tags were issued for a unit that normally issues ~23 NR and was not slated for decreases.

2 tags for ~150 applicants in the random draw (compare 17% draw odds based on first prefs last year)
1 tag for ~55 applicants in the special draw - this compares to 9 last year (75% odds)

In the Random PP Draw there were 9 tags this year, a 17% draw odd based on first prefs - but the points level jumped to min 3 (from non-zero 0pt) and even then you were only 27% chance.

Quota of 5, 8 Issued in Special PP draw - minimum jumped from 0 to 2 pt level - but 9 applicants somehow works out to be a 55% draw chance? I'm fairly sure a math degree can't imagine how those numbers work.

Sigh. Irony that I am nearly better odds of drawing elk in MI than I am in a low tier Antelope unit in Wyoming this year.

My wife drew a good antelope buck tag in unit we are familiar with. She has killed some antelope does, but this will be her first buck tag. Hoping to find her a really nice one!

Happy to see a lot of success among Hunt Talkers. No Wyoming luck for me, but kind of expected that outcome given my point totals and the units I applied for.

Matthew decided to get serious about shedding his Wyoming points. He burned max deer points and double-digit pronghorn points.

I got a Region R deer tag! Very excited. Gonna be my 3rd time going to the Bighorns but going to be in a different are. Hopefully the streams are fishing good after I don’t see a single mule deer after 5 days of hunting.

Struck out on antelope. Looks like just deer this year in WY for me. I’ll probably focus more on my deer and elk tags in MT so I can do my part to completely eradicate those pesky critters there.

Holy crap!!! Me and my son just scored fantastic antelope tags in the random draw! I’ve never been this guy…it’s pretty cool.

I was swinging for the fences figuring I’d build points again.

Three of us applied separately. My son drew a 120 Bull tag and a doe antelope close by. My nephew drew a deer tag (reg Y) and doe antelope. So looks like I'm a guide, camp cook, and old guy with the credit card.

My wife, daughter and I were unsuccessful on doe antelope.
