IIRC, the region tags were set at about the 3 year average for each region.Just looking at nr general tags, I'm getting 3419 in 2023 and 4325 in 2024.

I plan on it. Our general Elk hunting quality is the best thing going. You better start speaking up. I have heard from reliable sources that if the tags do anything they'll increase region tags.
You would have to total all the LE full priced tags plus the general tags to know. How many more tags where sold over the 7250?
I went back to 2022 and added up 3500 general tags. Am I missing something by using the draw results and summing regular random+regular pref+ special random+special pref?IIRC, the region tags were set at about the 3 year average for each region.
General NR region tags was 4425.Just looking at nr general tags, I'm getting 3419 in 2023 and 4325 in 2024.
The big increase/rounding up was in the east region. Both the south and west were rounded up some as well.I went back to 2022 and added up 3500 general tags. Am I missing something by using the draw results and summing regular random+regular pref+ special random+special pref?
My impressions are that harvest survey data got rounded up somewhat liberally to determine the regional quotas, but maybe I am missing something.
Short term planning for a long game is a shame to see. Life is short.Just read the 2025-26 hunt plans thread and you can see how many states people apply in. I make a decent living but I could no way afford to submit multiple applications across a bunch of states or much less afford to take unpaid time off (don't get vacation pay). I will likely buy a $50 point this fall and maybe apply in a another state for one species, but its not worth it to me to apply/draw when I only might get to hunt 5-10 days of the entire season. I don't see WY point totals going anywhere but up. Too many people with too many preference points. Wyoming will basically be a once in a lifetime hunt for a majority of nonresident elk hunters.
I got a second choice Gen tag, but that was in the special draw. I guess before that it was possible to get a general tag as a second choice in the standard draw?Anyone else remember when NR's could draw a GEN tag as a second choice? I do. And I'd bet so does @WapitiBob! LOL. For sure he does! That was a dozen years ago.
