WY area 16 info

It would be a fun hunt. I’ve seen some dandy bulls there in September while looking for antelope.

any recommendations on where in 16 to start the scouting phase. And how many points did it take to get a goat tag?

There are no goats in (elk)16, all goats are in western or north western WY mountains. Some decent pronghorn hunting down around 16.

Didn’t have a tag, just looking for the future. Saw some bulls off the main road. Thats the best I can give you.

I appreciate it, I'm retiring in May after 40 years of military service, so I'm knocking out some bucket list hunts. I'm trying to get as much input as I can, I didn't expect the smart ass posts that some folks left:) but now I know what to expect:)

Thanks for your service, if you get your disability over 50% WY has a great program for donated tag to vets. Get involved with the Cheyenne chapter of Hunting With Heros.

You are a WY nonresident? unit 16 requires close max points (19 points) to draw for elk. Do you have max points or at least 18? That is the initial hoop to jump through before worrying much about the scouting phase.

No secret that 16 has a lot of elk and good bulls. Plenty of public to hunt. Great for a bow hunt or rifle.

A good choice if you can draw.
