Wondering what you guys use as a rust preventative for your firearms

For years I have wiped my firearms down with a rag covered in Rig Universal Gun Grease as a rust preventative before storing them in my safe or between rainy days in the field. I just finished up my last jar and before I go to buy another I thought I would ask you guys what you use or if there is a better product out on the market.

Birchwood Casey- Barricade, although I hate the spray cans, next time i'll opt for a bottle.

Silicone cloths, rem oil bore swab, and Barricade. Dehumidifier crystals for the safe. Pretty humid here.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. Humidity is not a big issue here and the Rig has worked well, just looking for the latest and greatest. Might try some of the Barricade as it seems to get good reviews both here and on the internet.

Stainless steel. :)

Unfortunately, my Dad's Browning Twelvete didn't come in Stainless steel back in the 50's. The old gal has a few worn spots that need that extra protection when I take her out into the elements.

Hoppe's #9 and some attention to the firearm when it's not hunting season. I try to do a thorough clean of each firearm once a year.

We used 3-in-1 oil for years, but it wasn't very good. Now I use RemOil mostly. Recently I have been trying Hoppe's gun medic for a quick, mess free in-the-field protection. I like it okay so far but I probably wouldn't use it for long term storage.

Mine are never really stored for long as they are frequently used, but i will when necessary give them a spray with WD40, then a wipe down with gun oil.

By the way, Stainless rifles can rust, so i always give them the same treatment.

Cheers

Richard
