It looks like they got this under control but the really bad drought in the Nebraska Panhandle over the last few years has finally led to what many have been fearing this last weekend when a lightning storm sparked a massive and quickly spreading blaze in the Wildcat hills claiming no lives but completely destroying a few ranches. I personally have talked with two of them in my time spent over the previous years visiting and I'm left speechless. I pray for them to be able to recover and rebuild their homes and lifestyles in one of the most beautiful parts of the state.

It’s pretty bad across there up into NC Nebraska. Hopefully they don’t get the fires like they did in 2012. The landscape is still barren of trees after that. Most of the north bank of the Niobrara looks like a moonscape west of Meadville compared to the south side.

Good buddy of mine live in Mitchell and says it's as bad as he's seen it since moving back. Those wildcat hills are pretty though.
