My own 2 cents is that the stupid, personal stuff should be eliminated. Changing names to make fun of someone does nothing to further debate or advance an position. Elkchsr to Elk cheese, Ten Bears to Ten Beers, Elkgunner to Elkgummer, etc. It just gets old, and the personal attacks simply mean that the most vicious one "wins." That does not count in my book as "making a fool out of someone" - it simply means you are a better bully.

Gather round children and let Uncle Danr tell you all a story about a web page where everyone was friends. They had lots of fun and discussed all kinds of stuff. The the Great Web Troll began censoring what some people were allowed to say. He started dictating topics and banning certain members.
So a few, brave young souls decided that they needed a new web page where they could say what the wanted and be honest with each other. No censorship. No banning folks because you don't like what they say or how they say it or how they treat other people. This was a brave new world. They even went so far as to open a PIG PEN where you could tell dirty joke and say nasty words etc.
Well, time progresses and people change. Pretty soon the mean old Web Troll came to visit this new web page and replaced all of the brave young souls who started the web page where everyone was free. A sad story, but not uncommon. As brave young souls mature, they seem to change into web trolls...

It's human nature for groups of people, however well meaning, to conciously or subconciously attempt to establish pecking order, be it in a schoolyard or on this forum. Conflict is a natural byproduct...so are rules to govern the conflict and referees, if you will, to interpret the rules and administer admonition. It's also human nature to walk the edge of the rules. I suppose 'no censorship' would equal no rules and no referees.

I like causeing grief on other sites and Always have... you know why ? Because people get mad and you know they leave the Computer pissed. There should be a few ground rules ie. don't drag in someone's family members: Wife, Kids, Grand Parents etc.
And It should not go any further then SI.
I think the rules should be evenly applied to everyone who posts. Sometimes it seems that there are posters who are allowed to say things that others would get sent to timeout for. Just my perception maybe but it sure seems like that.
If we all wanted to be politically correct and never post something "off topic" then we could go post on realtree.com, the NAHC forum, MM.com, etc. etc.
