Why dont they put the gas filler behund the license plate anymore?

Maybe you could get a permanent marker and mark some thing on the dash in your new pick up on the side that your gas tank is on.... ;)

Then I guess You will just have to stay ticked every time you jump into a fill up station. LOL....

I stand to be corrected on this if wrong, but I think the last year they put the gas filler behind the license plate was around 1960. I don't remember if there were recorded instances of vehicle fires, or just fear of the potential of the license plate lamp sparking and causing a fire. I do remember that most all the 1961's had a flap on the side, and there they have remained ever since. All my vehicles have the flap on the driver's side...even the truck with dual tanks.

Remember when they used to hide the filler behind the tail light and you accessed the cap by twisting a piece of trim causing the tail light assembly to pivot down? I know...showing my age!
