Oh, that'd be me...

I broke it to my boss and supervisor today that I was completely unhappy working where I work. They were fairly understanding, so now I have completely committed myself to finding another job. Fortunately, they didn't tell me to clean my office out by the end of the week, but I don't want to prolong my "lame duck" stint at my current soon to be ex-job.

So here I am a 24 year old guy with a degree in communications and 3 years experience working at a Marketing/Advertising firm (and a pretty good one at that). I want to move west of where I currently reside. Ideally in Bismarck, ND, but I am willing to be pretty much anywhere in MT, ID, WY, or CO. I have a few leads right now, but counting on anything to pan out is really wasting valuable time (I've been really enthusiastic about some leads, only to not get near the response I'd have hoped for).

I realize that it is a bit of a longshot, but if any of you know jobs in marketing/advertising in your area, I'd appreciate any help. Hell, I will buy a steak dinner plus take them on the waterfowling trip of a lifetime in ND for anyone that finds me a job! hump :D

Keith,

I read an article in the paper recently about Cabela's in Sidney Nebraska having a difficult time finding employees. Maybe this would be of interest to you, and maybe they could use someone with your skills? Good luck on the job search.

Keep you eyes peeled for Power Plants hiring, as there is a pretty good turnover.........the Basin Electric plant in Wheatland Wyoming hires quite often.........and I always have the local ones here in mid-ND on my fav's........I'll keep an eye open for ya....

Good luck on your job search smalls. I to am looking ofr a new job, but see I've been out work since the end of Oct. :( I've had a seasonal job working for Kmart, hopefully they liked the way I worked and will give me a more perminate position.

Good luck finding a job. I lucked out! When Washington Hunter suggested I stay with him a while he sent me a link to the local paper and I got a job right away..It was not a sure thing when I moved here but I felt pretty confident. I will keep you guys in mind. I have been out of work for long periods of time and I know how it feel.

I always just think it was meant for me to be here and that is why I got this job so quickly..

Good Luck to both ya'll!!!

I hope you both find a good job soon.
Keith, I'm guessing your job description is pretty transferable into a lot of the bigger markets, you shouldn't have any problem with that size of area to look in....
Erin, try Wally World, they may like the experience you already have.
:)

In the same boat as you smalls. I had to close up my business but all will be ok I think. Had a very strong interview and such with a few comanies and now its kinda a waiting game but I am still keeping my feelers out just in case but I think next week I will have an offer.

Biggest suggestion I have is stay possitive and be enthusiastic anytime you get to talk to a prospect but DO NOT sound desperate. That sends up warning flags to most employers. Tell them you are not looking for a JOB that you are looking for a career and your not going to axcept just anything. You dont want to be looking for a JOB 3 months from now again or in ten years either. That will get you farther than anything. If your in marketing, use your skills man, market yourself to them and dont be afraid to say no or offer a counter to what they offer. Most of the time you can get more out of them. Heck if you are still working you can even tell them that if they want you to quit for them, you want a sighning bonus to do so. Just act like you are the shizznit and if they ask you why they should hire you, tell them because if you dont you will be competeing against me and thats something they dont want to do. They will be eating out of the palms of your hands!

Easy enough Sako, cuz I am the shizznit. :D That I don't doubt. The part that is making it difficult is that I am being fairly picky. I was actually offered a job today that just wasn't up my alley. But I'm confident I'll find something soon.

Right now I have my sights set on a job with the state of Montana...fingers are crossed.

Good luck on you job. I have a couple of sisters and a brother that employed by the state of Montana in Helena. Good benefits but the pay leaves a little to be desired at times.
