How about one or two with red or reddish coats? Do you have them given a field cut duing feathered-game seasons? How many times a year should they see a doggie barbershop? The red Golden retrievers look pretty but I think Labradors involve less coat upkeep. I'm contemplating dog ownership.

Here is a pretty red/reddish gal for dove:

I have a red but I feel I’m not qualified to be in this conversation lol. He doesn’t get the training I wish I could provide, and he doesn’t see a barber. My wife keeps his nails trimmed nicely and cuts the fur between his toes probably monthly. The burrs catch him pretty good but usually not too hard to get out. They listen well!. I love him to death, he’s the best dog I’ve ever had. 9C7E3831-182E-434D-AD65-FD631D884689.jpegF3173FE7-9517-441C-9157-D684EC19F7CE.jpeg

A handsome boy. I have had 4 Labrador retrievers over my lifetime just as pets. I dreamt of an all-black German shepherd as in my pfp, but at $5k - $25K for a decent-quality professional-bred registered pup with hips/elbows/eyes, that's about as bad as the prices of a new aluminum boat these days. I knew some fellows in the Army, military family men, that got some cute Golden retriever pups from one family soldier who had a bitch with a litter. They were such cute little devils. I think I have a hankering now for future goldens. I believe decent registered pups can be had for under $1K a copy.

The German shepherd dog has now become something for rich folks as a status symbol, otherwise they are serious professional working dogs. My elderly paternal aunt had one black-tan GSD back in the late 1990's, a male named Cue. About $2K for the dog then and another $2K to train for yard security.

Guilty.

The only field these 2 see is a tennis ball in the back yard…

They’re full blood sisters, just 2 years apart.

Sisters. One parent had one coat color and the other another coat color maybe. Perhaps the genes for the red coat are recessive.

The one laying down is dead on the sire and the other is dead on the dame.

Personalities are about as opposite too

I too don't get my golden out hunting as much as I should, usually only a handful of times a year. But you really can't beat a golden for a family dog/ hunting dog combo. 12184982_788509931257320_2259811462449672782_o.jpg12189386_788510014590645_2585264948976247639_o.jpg

I love those soft, dark brown eyes. The Golden retriever also seems to have a gentler personality than the more popular Labrador. I am not a fan of light amber bird-of-prey eyes on dogs.

Here are the top 20 dog breeds of today. Sadly, the Border Collie, Rough Collie (Lassie) and American Foxhound is not numbered here. Farmers used to love Foxhounds. Ranchers and sheepmen love collies of sorts.
