Which Way Would You Go? (Western Montana to NW Colorado)

For all you road warriors out there - which route would you take? I will be taking a drive soon from western Montana to Meeker, CO. In the past I have always hooked up with I-80 in western WY and continued east until I hit WY 789, then took it south through Baggs, WY and Craig, CO (Hwy 13) and south to Meeker. However, the mighty Google suggests getting off I-80 in Rock Springs and going south on WY 430, 10N, and CO 318 through Vermillion Falls and Maybel, then south on Moffat County 57 / Rio Blanco County 7 to Meeker. Is that really a better route? Any more interesting scenery one way or the other?

The route through Baggs / Craig is better time-wise. CR 318 is slow and winding.
