Thats not much fine for over twice the limit.
Here's where I'm disappointed. If they had cut down any tree it would be a bigger fine. Ive worked with foresters who come up with huge values for illegally cut down trees saying the cost of damage comes from original cost+age+shade value+what it could have been... etc etc. Then it comes up to high felony level damage with jail possible.
But we don't seem to do that for wildlife and the generations that could come from those adult ducks.

Im not a wildlife officer or forester so can't explain it well

I don't think over $7,000 in fines is anything to scoff at, seems like a good bit to me. Hopefully they learned a lesson, probably not the first game violation they've committed. Shooting lead, lying, trying to hide, 30 birds over limit, yeah they deserved getting the book thrown at them.

I had figured also trespassing, but they don't clearly say trespassing or not with crossing two fences.
My opinion of course. But under 2k a hunter. Nothing to scoff at sure, but that's the price I've paid for private land hunting access and never had a chance at 54 ducks.
I am curious how a valuation for wildlife is made if anyone knows. Comparatively to my experience from valuation of trees
