What's your favorite duck?

Hands down a wood duck. So fun to hunt, aerial acrobats, prettiest duck in my opinion and they taste soooo good!

I've always wanted to shot one!

I do love a lot of the ones mentioned these guys are pretty cool i think......

A baikal teal or red breasted goose are very beautiful as well.

The coolest thing about waterfowl is the transformation of them through the seasons.

Wood ducks and pintails are gorgeous as are shovelers just not as good to eat. There's always been something about those green wing teal coming in sounding like tiny jets. But if I had to pick one it would be the canvas back.

A mature bull Can is tough to beat as well. I have been lucky to take a couple late in MT.

The Teal family are very cool and fun little shoots as well.

Male shovelers in the spring are very pretty imo. I would say a nice acorn fed woodduck or a teal are my favorite to eat.

I really have only shot a handful of ducks that weren't mallards since I spend so much time with archery now. I like the not flashy Gadwall for both looks and plate. I have only shot 1 MT wood duck and he's mounted. I do like shooting teal but they can be rare by the time I start waterfowl hunting each year.

All I do know is that I have zero interest in shooting another Goldeneye...it was a nightmare to clean and was not what I consider food when cooked (I'm sure I screwed it up).

Great topic. Drake sprig for combo of looks and taste with a drake wood duck in second. If you add in the whole experience calling etc. it is a greenhead as the all around favorite for me. Honorable mention to greenwings. Ciniman are pretty but from my experience taste more like a spoonbill (also good looking but not the best eating) than a greenwing.

IMO pintails are the most beautiful. So elegant looking. Maybe it's just because we don't shoot many where I hunt. Still nothing like picking up a giant greenhead. Woodies have the most beautiful coloration.

For food, prefer GWT and gadwalls.

Yes, wood ducks are beautiful, pintails are graceful, cans are majestic, and all taste great. But if I had to pick one duck to shoot in duck hunter Heaven it would still be mallard drakes.

They are all amazing to me in their own little way. Tough to choose my favorite but I'd have to say a nice Drake woodie.... I need to chase them more often.

Coots are beautiful and delicious. I always fill my limit too. They seem readily available.

Like others have said, it's hard to choose one. I believe pintails are the best tasting followed by GWT. Cinnamons here in Utah are gorgeous but they can have elevated mercury levels so I generally avoid them.
