Not sure exactly what that track belongs too, mt lion or small bear? I crossed over thier tracks a few times and found that they were pursuing the same elk I was.

Cool photos. If you look at the bottom of your track picture there’s an older print coming toward the camera that looks like a feline to me and the fresher tracks walking away from the camera I’d say are canine.

Forest research/demonstration area while hunting Thanksgiving morning. Interesting old fire snag. Bitterbrush shrubs in wire enclosers due to heavy browsing by deer after burning 30 years ago. Fir thickets sprouting up now means the area is due for another burn.

In the Champlain valley, many of our ridges are topped with oak/hickory savannahs. I rarely shoot deer there, but I can't resist walking through them.
