I live at elevation (5,500’) so that’s a helpful starting point. My background is endurance races (Ironman / Ultras / Marathons) and I have two dogs that need exercise. I usually do an hour of weights and an hour of running a day. Season dependent I cross country ski. Shed hunting is my preferred summer activity.
I proactively try and simulate hunting scenarios (adverse conditions) in my running. My hunting season runs from Aug (WY) - Jan (NE); I generally don’t give myself an ‘off season’ for what it’s worth. With weight training I also go after calves and lower back. That’s the only parts that seem to weak points for me in the mountains.
