I also see no need for expensive scopes. For most of fifty years I did great with old K3 Weaver fixed 3x on my Springfield 30-06. A few years back I picked up a great deal on a Nikon 3x9 for a hundred bucks and it's been good enough ... after being sent to factory to repair longitude adjustment. I think they are out of the scope business now. Or they were. I'm hard on equipment so can't see laying out a huge bankroll for some relatively delicate piece of equipment that would just lead to constant worry when in the field.
