What A Year For Elk

You know how to get ahold of me, I’m free most anytime. I will be more than willing to discuss your hunting concepts and how mine may differ. Leave the threads about hunting, positive and about hunting…
Likewise. But I'll keep commenting, asking legit questions, any time I feel like it. My question above was about local MT elk hunting, assuming you are familiar with changes over the last few decades. If you are plumb happy with complete dogshit hunting on the National Forest, so long as there's a swarm on a rancher's place, that's okay too. But I am genuinely curious.

Sweet Baby Jesus. I hunt private land often. I didn't "shit" on anybody.
But why comment something like " I've got no real big interest in busting them along a road or in wheat stubble. Different strokes for different folks." It seems like a passive aggressive jab at the way he may or may not have harvested them. He shared his success, it doesn't seem like he is seeking a discussion on what's happening on public land in MT.

All while there are other threads of road hunting disasters and deplorable hunter behavior regarding elk grouped on private.

My dad has killed the vast majority of his recent elk on private and often in a field or a patch of timber bordering one. He doesn’t brag about it being great elk hunting or even being all that fun. He truly misses hunting elk in the woods. Unfortunately where he used to elk hunt he’s about as likely to run into a unicorn as a bull elk

I wouldn't call his post bragging. It seems like he was sharing his success. Sounds like he's a little older and retired. Not everyone has the physical ability to go do a backcountry hunt. He's out there hunting. Isn't that what matters most?

Regardless of whether you got them on public or private land, good work! That's a successful season in my book! Not sure why people would shit on the fact that you might have hunted some private land. Private land is where it's at. Don't have to worry about a bunch of random "hunters" ruining your hunt. Given the opportunity, I would jump on the ability to hunt any private land. 9/10 it's better than public. Networking is important, to be friends with a rancher would be huge for hunting opportunities.

Again, great work, and it looks like you're going into winter with full freezers!

Then why does he feel the need to post the same pictures over and over? Start a thread about Shiras moose and see what happens…

it might be what matters most to you. Living here - you might prefer better elk hunting in spite of reading how just totally great it is with a flurry of the photos above.

Another elk hunt along Norris road last week. Successful for many, even on the little piece of state land. God bless Montana..

Only three shots? (insert "those are rookie numbers" gif)

It's a hunting forum... He's sharing his successful season. Not sure why that's hard to wrap your head around.

Man the internet is a wild place.
You ever drive around with old elk racks and pose with them year after year? How about using multiple guns for photo ops regardless of whether they were used in the hunt?

It's certainly not my desired hunt style, but can you blame someone on the internet for someone else's actions? Is this the way he harvested the elk in his photos?

Can't say I've ever even thought about that??? My photos typically include the animal.

You're sure a thin skinned dude for being from Montana...not typical of the Montana born hunters I've hunted with.

Maybe try posting better pictures...sorry about your hurt feelers.
