I've been wanting to build a pedestal for my turkey for the last couple years. So I finally got around to doing it this weekend. I picked up some old barnwood and started cutting away.

I still need to extend the base of the turkey mount to completely cover the top of the pedestal. I will do that step next and post the completed project when I'm finished.

Looks great, the turkey itself appears to be really well done also.

looks good and should be nice and heavy so it won't be to tipsy.

Very nice!!! I'm thinking of making a plaque for my dad's and mine euro pronghorns and after seeing your pedestal may have to do it out of barn wood.

DID Mitch do that one ?
Yep that's the 4 bearded turkey I shot a few years ago. His grandson was actually the one who mounted it.

I bought the wood from craigslist for a buck a foot. I waited for ever to find someone giving the stuff away but never found anyone.

Thanks for the kudo's guys.

I was at Mitches earlier this week and he had 5 turkey mounts there. DID you see the one they are entering in the show ?

I had some time this weekend so I finished my turkey base. I've never messed with a scenery base before so I wasn't sure how it was going to go.

All I knew it was foam so I went and bought that foam spray used for filling cracks. Laid down some plastic over the pedestal and sprayed enough foam to cover most of the voided area.

After it was dried I cut down the excess foam with a knife and made it some what uniform. I spray painted the yellow base with a flat black paint and sprinkled some dirt on it to add some different color.

Added some ground cover common to the area to finish it off.
