Hello,

I have been considering a Weatherby Mark V Hunter. I cannot justify spending for their other lines of Mark V. I found out they are phasing out the Hunter line in lieu of a series with Remi Warren. There are still some Mark V Hunter available.

I am specifically considering 280 Ackley Improved. I just don’t know much about the hunter series other than a couple reviews. Does anyone have experience with this model?

I would like to support Weatherby since they support RMEF. I just would like some more information before I invest that much in a rifle. Thanks

I tried for a while when the Hunter came out a few years ago for the 280AI.
The non magnum actions are 6 lug instead of 9 lug.

I actually ended up saving a couple hundred more and got the Weathermark LT in 7mm Weatherby.

The more I handled the Hunter, the more I didn't like the stock.
Seems very plasticy, and slippery vs other Mark V stocks.

I’ve owned a Mark V Hunter Bronze in 300 WBY for a little over a year now. The only game I’ve been fortunate enough to take with it thus far has been a pronghorn doe, but it was sure worked well on that hunt. This is the first new rifle I’ve purchased for myself, and I’m sure the higher end Weatherby’s have some nicer features, but I cannot really find anything to complain about with mine. It is the most accurate rifle I’ve owned.

If you pull the trigger (STS) let us know how it turns out. I've settled on a Mark V in 280AI as well, just need to find the right month for finances to fall into place and to decide which model makes sense.
