Hey folks, little background before the pictures. I'm stationed at Kunsan AB, South Korea. I am also in charge of the Base's BASH program, (Bird/Wildlife Strike Hazard), more or less I am charged with bird/wildlife dispersal around the airfield/flightline area. I am required to have proper training, and even a hunting permit from the local city. There are certain birds I am not able to shoot, such as hawks, sales, and falcons. Hey they help me also!

Basically I show up to my office and knock out the emails and so forth, then make a few calls, grab an old 870 from the safe with a box of rounds and head out to scare them animals away. We have a huge list of migratory birds, large Rock Dove's, Pheasants, Magpies, Teals, Spotted Bill ducks, Herons, and Egrets. Plus we have have a Deer species on base and around the area that are absolutely awesome! Chinese Water Deer, they are small, like 35 lbs full growth, no antler but they do grow fangs/tusks! Also a Raccoon dog, that we have nicknamed Benjo Beasts! They are more fox like than dog, but markings and the wit of a raccoon. Well here are some pics. I got lucky getting this job, the good outweighs the bad a lot here!

Cool pics with what sounds like a fun job. On those fanged deer I wonder if that's what Elk ivory looked like back in the day?

I lived in Korea for two years, and it's an awesome place; especially if you get away from the bases.

First off GOD bless you for your service to this country! I have a neice stationed there also. Long shot but her name in Victoria Gottshall. I believe you have one of the best jobs in the service you lucky dog. Congrats on the game and stay safe. Thank you for sharing, Semper Fi, and good huntin'

Hopefully able to donate your *hauls* to the locals?

Oddly enough the locals don't and won't eat the birds cause of the avian flu. The ditches on base aren't very clean so we don't eat the ducks, but the dove and pheasants are very good. The little deer we get about 12 pounds of meat off them and I share it with the folks that are with me. I've been here almost 2 months and this is the 3rd one so far.

Part of me wants to eradicate all the wildlife on base, cause that makes since for my job, as a sportsman I want to harass and scare during work and be able to hunt and enjoy the perks on the weekend.

Almost daily I see the deer but they are over the fence off base and can't hunt them there. So I at least know there are still some left for future guys and gals coming to this base.

Thanks for your service. Looks like you got that job Ol Jeff Foxworthy talks about "You mean we get to shoot frozen Chickens out of a cannon at windshields!!!!" John

Spent time in Korea (Camp Casey, Unchon) way back. Heard about the deer, but never saw one. Went hunting one day in hopes of getting some pheasants, but saw only one and missed. People with connections really had fantastic pheasant hunting. Never had the urge to go back - after all, it was the Army.
