And as far as it being green there, yes you're right, it is. Definitely no shortage of water or feed for the deer. We were hunting between 7000 and 7500 feet, and the water is just everywhere. In fact, on Friday we had more water than we wanted, in the form of snow the first couple of hours in the morning, and then rain the rest of the day. Luckily that weather moved on and Saturday we had blue skies, and that's when I got the buck.

What you all need to know, is that at 7000 feet in Washington you are on the TOP! The Pasayten, maxing out about 7500-8000 is as big and rugged as anything in Colorado, Montana, Idaho, whatever.....just low level. You have to remember the ocean is just a 100 miles to the west!

Nice one WA Hunter! I've hunted the Pasayten and the Teanaway quite a bit.

Hunterman, what days will you be over there? There's a good chance I will be over there for both weekends of the season. Won't stay during the week though since I just used up 6 days of vacation and I've got another 6 days off for muzzleloader elk season.

What you all need to know, is that at 7000 feet in Washington you are on the TOP!

That's right. I think I even felt the effects of the high altitude. The first couple of days that we were hiking around there, my eyes would get a little blurry and it would get hard to focus. We are used to being close to sea level and then to be camped at 7,000 feet is quite a change.

It was difficult hunting and Bob did well to get that buck. The 310 yard shot was pretty good. (I wish I could have spotted a buck to standing still.)

The outfitter showed up 7 hours late to pack us out so I was kind of bummed. If I had known he was going to be late I could have hunted more the day he was supposed to pack us out.
