The Taylor trio is about to hit the road for a week of rootin, tootin, and maybe shootin in our own private idaho.

My son is goofier than my bird dogs on opening day. Hope we can get him a good shot at a bull. Any bull.

My dad hasn't killed a bull in a few years. Hope we can get a bull.

I have my sights set on a mature bull, but I may weaken at the sight of any bull.

Deer, bear and lion need to wary as well.

Looking forward to pictures and what for sure will be one hell of a story.

Good luck T Bone!

Best of luck, sounds like a great time with family..no matter the outcome. Hope all three generations score!

Good luck, hopefully you get involved in some packing.

Good luck!! What part of the state you heading to? This'll be the first out of the last four that I'm not heading to the elk haunts around Salmon... :(

We got a Text from T-bone that said he had a 6 point BULL down....

Well...

Then a follow up Call saying that it was a joke and it was just a 3 point buck down. Not sure what is exactly up but the area he's hunting is some of the toughest hunting in Idaho. Good luck to them all !!! the young, the middle and the Old... Errr I mean the not so young ;)

Good luck fella's !!

the text said " 6 point down"

I later stated that it was a mule deer, eastern count. :)

The trip didn't turn out as hoped. The country was too big for my 12 year old. I forget that not everyone is excited about real mountains.

Throwing in the towel didn't feel good as we had significant time and money into it. I was out of patience and the options were to push harder, bag it and go home, or buy him a Greyhound ticket back to Mom....

So we chose the go home route. We'll stick with birds and deer for a while.

I wish I'd of brought my steelhead gear. Just driving by we saw quite a few hookups.

Even if it didn't turn out like you'd dreamed, getting to spend time in the hills with dad is something you'll both remember!

Now go find him a whitetail to spank! :D

Taking a breather on the way up.

Almost on top and no elk.

That's too bad it didn't turn out like you'd hoped. Every trip like this is just gonna give the boy that much more experience for the next one. Before you know it, he'll be waitin' for you. :D

Back when I was younger....uh...way back...I hunted the Selway Bitterroot Wildernes out of a Drop Camp outta Paradise Ranger Sta and at Bad Luck Cr gap...on foot...in snow up to crotch deep...we killed Elk! Four years in a row....wasn't for puzzies like I am now! No horse, no hunt!!

That country is big, but holds elk in it consistantly. When your boys gets his legs and lust for elk under him you'll take out some dandies !!

I hope your boy comes away with a good experience and goes back after it...

He may still get the bug later on...

Hope you had a good time of it any way and better luck on the next round... :)
