That said, if you are wanting a 300 of some sort, I think I would be looking very hard at the 300WSM in a Kimber Montana.
You did not read my post very well, I said in the 180 class the rum has the 30-378 beat by a lot. .Wingman
The top of the food chain is 30-378 weatherby. the data speaks for itself. I shoot 210 vld bergers in mine.

Dhaffner, I'm not going to tell what you what gun to shoot but I would like to know if you still want pics of this gun. Just a side note.... the 300 RUM is at the top of the food chain in the 30 cal 180 grain class. Look at the data it speaks for itself.
I have a Sako Finnlight 300 WSM that i would sell............can't compete with the price of Wingnuts gun but i would let it go for $2000. Its almost brand new with a Swarovski 6x15x50 with TDS reticle.
First, you can take the caribou out of the equation completely, they are quite possibly the easiest dieing animals I've ever seen killed, seen probably a dozen die with everything from 7mm08 to a 300weatherby and every one of them folded at the shot (heart/lungs/shoulder). SO a 270 is a great plenty for them, if you feel comfy on Mulie with a 270, you should feel fine with that for Caribou as well. And although for Moose and elk I would also consider the 270 a bit on the small side, there is probably close to 100,000 elk that have died over the years to a 270 who would disagree with me. My mother in law has killed 2 cow Moose over the years with a 243, and my father in law killed his 42" bull in Montana with a 280 rem with 140gr handloads, so at least those 3 Moose would also disagree that a 270win was too small.
Now if you just want a new rifle and are really wanting some sort of 30 caliber, and I don't blame you if you do, I'm a bit of a gun slut myself and I regularly whore myself out to several different calibers. In 30cal I would recommend a 300win mag, especially if you handload. If you don't handload then any of the the other 30cal whiz-bang magnums will do.
