Waddells illegal bull?

Part of me wants to agree with you Buzz but can't completely as I would be a hypocrite if I did becasue I sometimes go over the speed limit even though it is clearly marked on the highway and I know it's against the law to go any faster. I'm glad the cops use thier judgement and don't write tickets for every car they see going over the posted speed limit. I guess as you stated some minor infractions of the law are becoming socially acceptable to break for some folks like those who party hunt or speed for example. I do understad the rules are rules argument though and apparantly I don't know where to draw the line as far as my driving is concerned.

I dont always drive the speed limit either...and I've been the proud recipient of a few tickets to prove it.

I just dont piss and moan about it. I know what the speed limits are and if I get a ticket, only one person to blame.

What makes people hypocrits is when they believe the laws dont apply to them and then bitch when they get pinched.

As to Az. G&F enforcing the newer travel/camping regs now in effect in U.S. forests within Arizona >>> from what I've come to understand those regs are federal rather than state in nature. Therefore enforcement comes under the jurisdiction of federal rather than state personnel (I think our Az. wildlife officers have plenty to take care of without having to worry about measuring your camping location from a road, etc.) ...

Lv2hnt---That is correct and is just like the fact the Federal Rangers can't issue a ticket for state wildlife violations. However, they might hold that violator up long enough to call and get a State G&F Officer on the scene. It could also work the other way.

Just so's the "sphincter police" do not have to worry, yes, FWP made a call to see what the deal was w/ the lighted nock....someone did call and cry "foul" over the lighted nock...but all was found to be well....

Lighted nocks, the rules are the RULES, even if I do not agree w/ them. The lighted nock issue seems like was made by a few guys who shoot "traditional"...they do not need lighted nocks, even as poor as my eye's are I can see the feathers on an arrow going 160 fps....however, out of a new bow pushing an arrow 360-380 fps...I can't even see them in slow motion...unless they are lighted....seems to me the ethical thing is to have a lighted nock...

Not entirely. The feds and state can enter into agreements to jointly enforce certain laws/rules/regs. A good example that I'm personally aware of are fire bans.

As and aside, I agree with Greenhorn's take on wardens. Most have had too many wedgies given to them as youngsters...

Doesn't surprise me somebody called. No shortage of dickheads out there. If that hunt would have been on your deer lease, he'd of been cited and the wardens would have been patting each other on the back for a job well done over coffee. Justice! Then he'd have been crucified on the internet for being a poacher.

Where can I get some of these lighted nocks?

It is legal to use lighted nocks on canned res hunts?

Eric not wanting to start a pissing match but I was wondering do you have an affiliation with Bear Paw Hunts and Chris Faber? Micheal said he was hunting with Bear Paw Hunts and I got this right off their website (http://bearpawhunts.com) it doesn’t sound like tribal lands to me-

The Faber Ranch has an 80-year history in the Bear Paw Mountains. The ranch is located in the heart of the Bear Paw Mountains in the Eagle Creek and Dog creek Drainages. The ranch is 45 miles south of Havre bordering the Chippewa Cree Tribal Land.

There are guaranteed and non-guaranteed tags available. Non-resident license and big game tags fees are set by the state of Montana and are subject to change. Why don't they put how to buy Rocky Boy Reservation elk tags? Sounds like Montana land, not rez tags to me. I could not find anywhere on their web site that talks about hunting the rez. Doesn’t that seem strange to you?

The only thing that really tells me this was a rez bull was the bull itself was not a trophy. If he had drawn a MFWP state tag he would have been hunting a trophy bull 370+ not what he shot in that area. I don't hunt that area but I believe it is quite hard to draw an ethier sex tag for that area and it has a lot of real big bulls.

If they were notified of a possible violation, all they had to do is go in their computer to see if Waddell had a Montana elk license. If he did, Bingo! If he didn't, then they would have to prove where the bull was taken and ask to see his Res. license.

Buzz,

My point was that while I don't condone actively breaking the law, if someone had violated such a minor (and dumb) infraction such as this, and they didn't KNOW they were doing something wrong at the time, why would anyone retro-actively turn him in? Seems aweful vengeful to me. It's akin to calling the police because the car in front of them is going 3 mph over the limit. No, you shouldn't be doing it, but actively trying to get someone busted after the fact for an honest mistake is the height of douche-baggery.

He and the Realtree bunch hunt Montana a lot and I would think they know the rules there. If he was stupid enough to be outside the Res and put that on TV, then he should get nailed just like Uncle Ted.

Really?

If someone is stupid enough to not read and comprehend the regulations regarding hunting and fishing...and then is dumb enough to air a TV episode showing their own ignorance of the law...yeah, they deserve a ticket/fine after the fact.

From what I have heard, any tags available from that rez are special "auction only" tags and very hard to get. I find it hard to believe he was actually hunting on the rez. I know that outfitter hunts right up next to the border of it though.

I'm not a bow hunter, and have never hunted in Montana ( I was born there, though), and I have asked this question in the past and never received an answer, so here goes. Why is it illegal to use a lighted nock? It doesn't make the arrow any more deadly, and it helps track wounded animals. So I don't understand the reasoning behind the laws against them. Can someone explain why Montana doesn't allow them??????????????

Hey man I hear ya. At least he did CG a bunch of different bulls. He was one and done!

Fist off, not sure what your problem is with me, I guess we can't all be as cool as you. Second, I don't have anything against Waddell and didn't know for sure if he did something wrong or not..........HENCE the Question mark in the post!! Just like I said, saw he was in MT using lighted nocks and specifically pointing that out on the show.

If indeed he was on a reservation hunt and it was somehow legal, well, good for him.........

Wow, jump off for a couple days and seems like Santa pissed in a lot of guys cheerios over the holidays..........
