We're looking (3 couples) to go to Mexico next June...

Any sugestion on places ? We've looked atthe Standard Cancun, Cabo's San Lucas, Etc.

The best suggestion anyone can make about going to Mexico in June, is don't. It's hotter than hades and anywhere away from the coast is loaded with bugs..

Mexico is best enjoyed between October and Mid May.. Between June and late October there is always the threat of chubasco (Hurricane) and sunburn.. If you feel the overwhelming need to go, then either go to the mountains... or stay near the ocean..

Dont' know exactly what you are looking for, but with the wives along, La Paz or Playa Blanca on the west coast or if you're really brave, Yalapa.. On the east coast.. stay home.. Guadalara in the mountains of the west is hot, but it's pretty and there are lots of shops.. of course there are lots of shops everywhere...

Stay out of mexico, goto alaska on the cruise, I hear that is the only way to go.

Go to Hawaii. They speak your language, use the same money, it is just as pretty, medical care is a snap and there aren't the pathetic children trying to sell you chiclets. Personally, I like the diving in Hawaii better, too.

Now if you want to fish, that's a different story...

Some guys at work went there with their wives this spring and got to catch swordfish while they were there. Ill get the name of the place.

You can also drink the tap water in Hawaii.

Puerta Vallarta was okay, and the water is "supposed" to be okay there. I drank mostly Corona and Cuervo, so I wouldn't know.

I went with my wife, a gal from work and her husband. After a few hours, Leslie's husband went and bought a half gallon of Ceurvo Gold. Anytime either of us brought up work, we had to take a shot.

That kept shop talk to a minimum...

We had a 2-bedroom condo/suite at a place called Marina Del Oro or Marina D'Oro (?). Our room was called the Eagle's Nest or some such. Top floor (only 5 floors, I think) with a beach view and a private swimming pool about 10 x 20 feet! There was a hurricane a few hundred miles away, so the rain came in the French, double glass doors when the wind was blowing, but that was only 24 hours.

They even had big waterslides in the kiddy pools.

Just another note Moosie, if you go make sure you don`t have so much as 1 round of ammo with you, not even an old 22 round, those bastards will throw you in jail forever, and i aint kidding. Delw and others are right [stay out of mexico] have you thought about a houseboat on powell/havasu? it would be a great place for your "swing" party.

Moosie, the guys at work went with their wives to Ixtapa, Mehico. It wasnt toursity, they hired a drunk mehican with a boat for $100 to take them sailfishing.

Only one of 4 of them got the squirts from the water.

Another real question is how much time and how much $ can you spend.

There are much better places in the Carribean that are off the beaten path and much nicer pieces of paradise, if that blows your skirt up.

My brother just did Cancun and thought it was ok considering the cheap package he bought. You can get away with less money in places like that if you shop carefully. Plane and motel combinations are advertised in the Chicago paper all the time for pretty cheap money.

Just depends on what you are really looking for. I think it's a much higher quality time in places like St. Martins or the British Virgin Islands, but it is more money too.

Maybe another option is a cruise.....

Rumour has it my wife and I may be one of the couples going....

I want to catch some big salt fish. Billfish or tuna or wahoo.....something other than bottom fish. It won't be a "fish til you puke" trip, probably one or two days on the water. The girls will want beach and maybe shopping?

The fish calendars show the Mexico destinations as good for billfish in June. Havn't looked at Hawaii. That maybe competively priced since its the off-season...and they have pigs to hunt too.

Cabo San Lucas,
Small town, can walk around to all the eats and night clubs. Top bars:Giggling Marlin
Cabo Wabo, Squid Roe.
people were friendly, the fishing boats are right there, never needed to rent a car at all.
We stayed at the Finnesterra, easy walk to everything, also we stayed at Cabo Real, took a bus to town.
Food was great, partying was great,healing the next morning at the swim up bar was great.
Looking forward to our next trip down...
