Literally; just under 900...left noon Friday....Fredericksburg for the night,,,between weddings, grad parties, and general tourism, central Texas was a crush of people. Beautiful country, friendly people.

Some nice folks from Houston were there for a Vintage Auto rally...

Stopped by Luckenbach for the obligatory Tshirt and suds purchase..

I'd say 6-700 bikes at Luckenbach...one of the customs

Marble Falls view from hotel last night...room rates are jacked on the weekend but a cool clean room after 10 hrs riding is worth it.

Homemade pies at Marble Falls' Bluebonnet Cafe 6 am this morning...founded 1929

Ken, there are some things I miss about Texas (your Texas posts do that alot) - Fredricksburg being one of them and the old cafes that served real food. Stayed at a number of B & B's there. like the Magnolia house and the Fredricksburg Herb Farm. Miss the German Restaurant and antiquing on Main.

After many years of driving through Texas as fast as possible to get to the other side to hunt in the more western states, I recently seem to find myself spending time in the Lone Star state enjoying what I once rushed past. It's probably not entirely coincidental that I got more interested in hunting there after experiencing a couple of African safaris.

I go for the hunting but have really learned to appreciate a whole lot more than just that while rambling around out there, especially in the Hill Country and parts west of it. Picking up on the historical aspects are always a great allure for me wherever I go.

I plan to get out there on my Harley soon for a nice long relaxing trip around & about. Maybe this summer ...

Hill Country is a neat area for sure. Allot of deer down there. Father in Law's buddy hit a deer with his bike near Luckenbach last time they rode through there.

The carrion buffet was bountiful..some big Turkey Vultures down there. I try my best to ride daytime only.

Love that country. Fredericksburg is one of my favorites. Real high on my list on retirement towns. Road to Luckenbach has alot of curves. Must of been a good ride,

Also, there is sure some great beer in Fredericksburg. Real good beer.

Just great, now I have that song in my head......get your motor runnin, head out on the highway,....born to be wiiiiiild.....

Looks like a good time.

That's livin, right there. Looks like you found a better way to spend your weekend than I did.

I did get on the bike to run some errands on Saturday though, I put on a whopping 10 miles.

LOL. This is about the extent of my riding too!

Ken, looks like a great time. I know a guy here in town (Danny Edwards) that took his new bikeand hisnew girlfriend on a ride down by the Shades State Park ( next to Dad's place) and they crested a hill and 3 buzzards were eating on a dead coon. . .they tried to fly. . .and when alarmed their only defense is to projectile vomit. . .and one did just that, all over the front forks, headlight, his chest, and part of his girlfriends shoulder and neck. . .mmmm warm coon! they proceeded to pull over and between their own stomach issues washed off in the creek. I can't imagine.

Vulture vomit will definitely separate the troopers from the wannabe's...;)

....born to be wiiild
....:) This place had a jam session billboard next to the road....had to stop.
