How does the lab work on grouse and huns? I'm trying to figure out the best bird dog for me (mix of waterfowl, prairie birds, and mountain grouse)- and I keep coming back to a smaller female lab.Sharptails to woodcock, I’ve chased a lot of birds with my PIC!!
If a bird smells, he’ll flush and retrieve if you do your part! Huns were a by-product when going after sharpies. He’s a 90lb+ black lab, not exactly made to chase birds in dry, sunny conditions! He’s a powerful swimmer. The first three years of his life, he was awesome at chasing roosters in the prairie! How does the lab work on grouse and huns? How about mountain grouse? I basically want a do-all bird dog for mountains, prairies, and rivers. If a bird smells, he’ll flush and retrieve if you do your part! Never chased those with him! There’s pros and cons to all dog breeds as far as hunting, I’ll go black lab until I’m dead! They’re 95% of the time family dogs anyways! How about mountain grouse? I basically want a do-all bird dog for mountains, prairies, and rivers.
