Lots of bear crap in the berries and heard but didn’t see one run away from the dogs. I might have to go back with the .270 and binos in the evening.

Should be a good time. We are headed to N WI for a week beginning this upcoming Saturday. Remember, every ruffed grouse killed on the wing is a trophy! After all, he’s the King.

Checked out a few new covers today. 3 doodles & a grouse flushed. Took home the grouse & picked about 30 ticks off the dogs.

A good morning with my 10-month old pup.
The last rooster was about a 100 yard swim into the middle of a lake.

A buddy and I did a DIY trip to Montana for birds. This was the end of day 2 which was our best day.

Scoped out some new spots today with no success. Went to "old reliable" and had 4 flushes inside an hour, with a fantastic find & retrieve by the black dog.

Grouse hunting was more pleasant. Once winter decided to show up, it snowed and got cold.

I felt sorry for those poor Hungarian Partridges, having to live out there in the cold Arctic conditions. Warmed up a few with some #6’s

The Grouse are starting to develop technologically advanced weapons systems here in the northern lower. Time to switch up to #6's in case I need to take out some rocketry.

Been out a few more times. Ticks are subsiding, leaves are 80% dropped & the flushes are getting wild. We've had our first freezes, a touch of snow & I actually wore a jacket yesterday. Heading out tomorrow morning again.

South Dakota was a blast but look forward to getting back to Idaho.

Enjoyed a day in MT before crossing into SD. They were holding Tight.

Took little Franklin out and managed one lonely quail. I didn't put any thought into it, but tossed my vest in the back of the van where Franklin was riding. When I got home he was just hanging out, casually chewing on the thing. By the time I got it from him, he had chewed off and swallowed the head. Oops! Lesson learned.

Rain let up enough to take the dog for a walk.
