unit 700 in montana

Has anyone here hunted this unit for deer/antelope? I'll be there the 3rd week of Oct and I am just trying to get an idea of which animal to target first, antelope or deer. I am paying a landowner for tresspass rights, is there also public land?

I would try to take an antelope first because there horns will begin to fall off soon.

You could look into the block management program- http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/hunteraccess/blockman/region7.html Get the booklet for region 7 and start calling ranchers and talk to them. It looks like you are looking at opening weekend for deer so some ranches might be full. Some others you don't need reservations just sign. The antelope will be spooky after being hunted for a few weeks, but you should do okay if you get out and hike, and plan your stalks carefully. jerrym
