Ukraine / Russia

Y'er cheese turn a bit shroom-ish? 🤣

Ukraine / Russian news:

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea has signed a 3 trillion won ($2.25 billion) contract with a Russian state-run nuclear energy company to provide components and construct turbine buildings for Egypt’s first nuclear power plant, officials said Thursday.

The South Koreans hailed the deal as a triumph for their nuclear power industry, although it made for awkward optics as their American allies push an economic pressure campaign to isolate Russia over its war on Ukraine.

South Korean officials said the United States was consulted in advance about the deal and that the technologies being supplied by Seoul for the project would not clash with international sanctions against Russia...

On the flip side:

BALTIMORE (AP) — On a hot, humid East Coast day this summer, a massive container ship pulled into the Port of Baltimore loaded with sheets of plywood, aluminum rods and radioactive material – all sourced from the fields, forests and factories of Russia.

President Joe Biden promised to “inflict pain” and deal “a crushing blow” on Vladimir Putin through trade restrictions on commodities like vodka, diamonds and gasoline in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine six months ago. But hundreds of other types of unsanctioned goods worth billions of dollars, including those found on the ship bound for Baltimore from St. Petersburg, Russia, continue to flow into U.S. ports.

Sanctions strike only so far.

Meanwhile,

To blame for the increase is the soaring price of wholesale natural gas triggered by Russia's war in Ukraine, which is driving up consumer prices and roiling economies across Europe that rely on the fuel for heating homes and generating electricity.

Something going to give.

Good for them. Lol I hope the people in Europe stick to the guns and freeze their butts off all winter. Or bankrupt themselves trying to keep the heat on.

Fourth energy oligarch to die under mysterious circumstances since the war began. At least this time they didn't whack the wife and children as well.

Putin is pulling people‘s cards.
You kiss the ring, get in line and keep your mouth shut, otherwise you no longer exist.
I know everyone loves dead Russians. But he (Putin) is removing those dumb enough to speak out against. It’s going to be tough to get a more moderate insider to replace him if he’s whacking everybody.

Examples...
From the article
At least six other Russian businessmen, most with ties to the energy industry, have died suddenly in unclear circumstances in the past few months. read more

The deaths were all in Russia apart from that of Sergei Protosenya, a former top manager of Russia's largest liquefied natural gas producer Novatek (NVTK.MM), who was found with the bodies of his wife and daughter at a villa in Spain. Catalan regional police, investigating the case, have said they believe he killed them and then took his own life.

The one in Spain I believe hacked his family to death and then stabbed himself to death does that sound like a normal suicide? He was also speaking out against Ukraine invasion.

I meant the unfortunate deceased were examples. I could’ve been clearer.
