PEAX Equipment

Truck bed camp.

It was super easy. It came off in 2 pieces but it I would’ve started at the seam it would’ve came off in 1. I’m using butyl tape as well as the replacement. It took me about an hour from start to finish. The hardest part was prying the window out.

The hardest part for me is I’m going to be replacing the bottom seal where the topper meets the truck. I’m going to have to lift it up by myself.
Scott85, I wonder if you might be able to rent a drywall lift and use it in the bed of your truck to hold up your shell while you change the seal?

I still hate this tread.

Working on my setup a little more. Doing a mockup now with free plywood. Going to end up with a setup like the base camp 3.

Uffda. Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. I’ve got to redo my damn topper seals at some point soon.

I went through town late and I had a maverick’s cold sandwich for dinner.
I have a small generator I pack around. Great for a coffe pot I have. Coupled with a small micro and a mini Coleman propane stove I can live pretty good. Also have a small electric heater I can leave on. The lantern does a fair job of heating the small space by itself. mtmuley

Just Built me one of these. Took forever to finish. Can’t wait to take it on its maiden voyage. I’ll report back maybe with an update on how it went.
Post ain’t worth a darn without pictures!!

What generator and heater are you using?

The generator is a small Generac. 2500 watt I think. The heater is a milk house style electric heater. Nice to have when it's really cold. I can leave it on without worry of carbon monoxide. The generator is really quiet and runs a long time on a couple gallons of fuel. mtmuley

Truck camping out of my 6ft box Taco was pretty sweet... Another reason I hate my 5ft box 1500...
I just lean the seat back, crank up the heater, and go to sleep. My extended cab Taco is much better for that than my single cab Taco.
