Trikes

To be quite honest with you, I don't like riding a trike for this reason. I'm used to a either regular motorcycle or a 4-wheeler. Trikes handle way different than either. Everytime I have ridden a trike, it felt strange...like you had to lean the "wrong way" to get it to steer. Motorcycles with a sidecar handle even worse. It turns fairly normal one direction, but to get it to steer the other way, you have to put all your weight on the "wrong" footpeg. Some of the chopper trikes with a long wheelbase don't feel as unstable as the shorter ones, but they still feel a little weird. I've seen all manner of home-made ones around here...some pretty cool, others I wouldn't ride to the wrecking yard. One that I saw once that was pretty slick was made from a Fiat X-19 mid-engine sport coupe. The guy cut the car in two about a foot ahead of the rear seat (such as it was), formed a V shaped sub-frame and mounted one bucket seat in the front center. I think he used H-D Electraglide forks and fairing. The Fiat mid-engine supplied the power. The guy took the front section of the car which contained the luggage trunk and fabricated it into a trailer to tow behind it. Actually, he did a very good job on it, and it damned sure caught you attention when it went by. It was popular in parades and such...kids went wild over it. He was kind of a heavy guy and always rode it around at Christmas Parade time in a Santa suit.

Hee hee, and I totally thought he was talking about a kid's trike. This makes so much more sense. The blond dye has sucked through to my brain I think.

If I ever build something like that I give you a call.
RW- Thanks for all the info. Its going to be a junker. Since I have all of the materials and its not going on the road I'm going to go for it.(plus there's money riding on it, my friends say it won't work)don

Well for crying out loud post some pictures when you are done. For that matter post some pictures during. I think that would be interesting to see something like that go together.

Keep us posted.
