Trapping Thread 2024/2025

So, most of my area is sucked up bad with private property and real estate companies etc. They call it the checkerboard effect. Trouble I been having is finding coon. Are you guys trapping private or woodland ? Do coons live in the wild or stay close to humans ? Is this hard and fast or open to other variables ?

Find a corn field, or cattle feeding operation.

Look around for the biggest gnarliest old trees.

There will be a trail from the food source to the Denning area, (gnarly old trees).

In areas without corn id imagine the waterways are the food source.

There they can den in trees , and, or old beaver bank dens.

So raccoon do live in wild? Does the wild have to be near humans or do the occur naturally. Please bear in mind I moved from the city ( don't blame me for where I was born ) to the country ( where I commuted large distances from the city I was born in, against my will to be at peace in ) and the coons I know I know are trash panda city rodents.... Here is not the same scenario

There's a well used path between food, and den. Whatever those may be.

They hole up in cold temps, so don't think your looking in the wrong places if it's cold af out there.

Good advice . Thank you. I have been getting a bit discouraged searching for them, but yes it is quite cold here
