My 15 year old daughter is new to shooting trap with her high school team ( East Helena MT, First HS Clay sports team in the state and now one of 14!). After a few weeks of struggling with various guns last night she systematically tried 6 or 7 guns, her coach identified the one that fit her and she went out and shot a 12, which is a great improvement.
The gun was a Browning Ladies Gold Sporting Clays, no longer made and i cant' find one used or I'd buy it. I can, however, find the relevant stock dimensions. LOP 13 1/2, Drop at comb 1 1/4", Drop at heel 1 1/2". Any idea how i find a gun with these dimensions? I know people will tell me to have her try a bunch but she doesn't have enough experience to know what fits and I probably don't either. Any advice on another gun that might have similar attributes or be easily modified to do so? Price is always an issue but I'd rather buy a good gun once if it were the right one. Thank you

Our team uses a lot of SKBs with adjustable butt plates and combs. The auto I see most often is an R300, I believe. My kid is still too small for those, so haven’t paid a ton of attention. Or you could do what we did and put an adjustable butt plate system on an old 870.

You might consider an adjustable stock. What fits her now may not fit as well in a few years. Some can adjust comb height and length of pull.

You can also look at the stock dimensions listed and see what matches that browning the closest. If height isn’t correct there are adjustable cheek pads you can buy to adjust that.

For kids I would suggest purchasing something that you can adjust with them.

I'd call Browning. Also consider stock shape as in how thick and round. Ask if any of the BPS trap or other models had those dimensions.

Franchi Catalyst is close to those dimensions.
Browning also makes the BT99 in micro version with an adjustable LOP.
From my experience BT99’s are hard to beat for the price as a dedicated trap gun

Lots of stock makers and options out there to make a gun an exact fit if needed

My amazing mother looked in her safe today and actually has a Browning gold Sporting Clays she’ll give my daughter. From what I can tell it might be the same gun with a bigger stock so I’ll look around and see if I can find an aftermarket stock, and as someone suggested I’ll call browning as well. Thanks !
