Tough talking Wolf hunters

Hey, the wolf numbers need to be kept in check, they're not good to eat, and I sure don't want a wolf mount....what the heck am I gonna do with stupid wolf? Why should I pay good money for a tag? As a sportsman I would feel obligated to kill one if I had the opportunity. How many elk could I save if I kill this wolf is what I'd be thinking. Excess elk should be eaten by people not wolves. Tags should be given to anybody that buys a hunting license. To charge for a wolf tag is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

What is this world coming to? |oo

I wouldn't go that far but the way a lot of guys will look at wolves is no different than coyotes. They are overpopulated in some areas, need to be thinned in many areas, and are viewed when they get to that stage as a Varmint. How much will some guys pay to kill one?? hard to say but for me, not much because for me they fall into the varmint category not the trophy category. But to each his own I guess.
Here is a question, what would you guys shell out to kill one and keep it?
For me, not more than 50$ and I would only buy a tag if I was hunting an area that I have been already seeing them. I tell you what may be a smart thing for the F&G to do is make it a "pay after kill possestion" type of tag. Reason is they would probably get more honest money that way from guys who would be the SSS type.

To each his own Schmalts but I doubt that the F & G are going to have trouble selling tags, NR, or R. There's outfitters that are drooling for the opportunity to guide clients to wolves. Canada, and Alaska have many outfitters that make extra earnings catering to the NR Client.

Game animal? Quite a stretch of the imagination. Kiss my ass Mike.

Jose's name is Mike, wow, I was thinking like Meagel. Again I don't speak Italian, just a guess.
Actually they are a game animal, and have the protection of being a game animal and rightfully so. I for hope that more people feel the way you two do and don't hunt them ardently. I feel a coyote deserves respect as an adversary. Great animal to hunt and extend my seasons. Predator hunting has seen the fastest growth for a species in recent years, and I guess the wolf will only enhance that. I love hunting without crowds and camps ect. Oops should shut my mouth. "No it's lousy damned wolves just shoot every one of them damn vermin." "Filthy Bastages":D

To each his own. If wolf hunting is something you feel is worthy of your time, then good for you. I wish you great success.

Why, thanks for the kind words, and may god bless you too. If I'm successful I'll save you a wolf steak, or maybe some wolf Salomi.;)

"There's outfitters that are drooling for the opportunity to guide clients to wolves."

Now you did it SS. I can just hear the howling about welfare outfitters stealing the resident's wolves, and the non-residents howling about the expensive NR tags and how it's going to be a rich mans only sport, already.

Just wait till they start auctioning off wolf hunts in wildlife organization fundraisers!!!

Oh rest assured, that they'll try to do for wolf hunting what they did for lions. As long as it's a quota you'll see them try and hoard the kill. The difference being that you don't use dogs, and having every kid that's out of work driving roads looking for tracks before 3:00 a.m. isn't going to help in harvesting wolves.

Greeny, of course you'll love shooting wolves, you love shooting coyotes don't you? A wolf gives you more bang for your buck, and I'll bet greeny loves getting a buck out of a good bang!

I'd pay as much for a wolf tag as I would a deer or elk tag, if the odds of getting one were anywhere close to those of deer/elk. I think it'd make a great mount and would be a fun hunt.
