Seems like there are quite a few guys on here who have a lot of experience with photography. Now that I have some free time I've been playing around with my camera and photoshop, and though sometimes I can manage to get something cool out of it, most of my "work" in photoshop is just playing around with sliders and menus.

For those of you who touch up your pictures in PS, what is your general process for making your photos look better? Do you have a plan for your picture from the beginning or do you just make it up as you go along?

Always save your original image in a tiff file at the original image size.

If you save your photos in jpeg do not edit your photo and resave it in a jpeg format because it will compress your photo, thus you will lose image quality.

Each time you resave a jpeg it repeats the above!

What photoshop version?

I would suggest using the manual contrast and auto tone setting.

Not an expert but I hope it helps.

Hey Matt,

I used to be a major photoshop junkie.....in the past 3 years I have converted all of my workflow over to Aperture(others use Lightroom). They are very similar, and both can manage, sort, touch up, and do the basic needs for professionals and anyone looking to store photos.

If you are sticking to PS and want step by step breakdown of general photos let me know. I mainly use it to create multiple images, by using multiple layers, and sell them as fine art prints.

Hope to see you around this summer.
