Wyoming Question

I would love to apply in Wyoming but never have. I was told a long time ago that you had to hire an outfitter if you were a NR.

I prefer to hunt on my own...without an outfitter. Muzzle would be my preferred weapon. Any advice for Wyoming?

You dont need a guide unless you're hunting in a wilderness area.

There arent any muzzleloader only units for elk that I know of, but there are a few for both deer and pronghorn.

guys, question for ya, Ive heard and been told that if you apply for the elk/deer combo in montana your odds of getting drawn are every other year. Do any of you know about the odds of just the general NR deer A tag, it has a pool of 2300.

I belive the odds for a "deer only" tag are worse than the combo tag, thats what I've herd from people I know who love hunting deer in Montana.

The way I understand it... the odds for a deer only tag are about 20% with no points and about 25-30% with a point. I've drawn a deer/elk combo tag the last three years in a row and most of the people that I know and hunt havn't had much of a problem drawing it either. I think in the last three years out of about 4 of us we've all drawn except for one guy one year. Now we all might be lucky I'm not sure. If I remember what I was told from the fish and game, was that about 14500 people put in last year for the combo deer/elk tags and they give out somethink like 11500 or something. So your odds would probably be up around 80%ish... Send me a pm I'll tell you a little secret on the MT drawing game...
