Factory cut and crowned to 20" or did you have it done? (or do it yourself?)

Had it done by a professional gunsmith, he did an excellent job, even refinished it with the same bead blasted finish.

I should have cut and crowned my Tikka when I had it. Couldn't bear to chop that barrel, but I would have liked the rifle better at 20" than 22.4". People don't realize what a difference that few inches makes, especially on a light rifle. GLWS

Agreed, made it much easier to maneuver deer hunting, also balances really well in the hand scoped.

.308 really doesn't benefit much from a barrel longer than 20" either. My current .308 is 20" and rolls 150's out at 2850 fps just fine. I'd have already bought this from you if I liked Tikka stocks better. There is no doubt they can shoot and there isn't a smoother bolt action on the market.
