This is why Bozeman is kind of annoying.

Maybe. But I can tell you our clients didn't end up here because of a TV show. And I'm betting they have a stronger impact on our local economy building one home than the hordes that came here to wirk in their pajamas. mtmuley
So what motivates them? Just escaping unsafe cities? I know for sure river traffic increased exponentially after The Movie.

Most folks made some connection to Montana through a ski trip or National Park visit or a fishing or hunter experience.

Maybe the Movie or the Show sparked the desire to visit, but it was their experience in MT that brought them back.

I wonder if Taylor Sheridan gets the cognitive dissonance, that his characters, from 1923 and Yellowstone, at least, are supporters of traditional land use, yet by romanticizing Montana he has led to many of the changes they decry.

Supposedly Redford felt guilt about making A River Runs Through It when he saw the changes it wrought.
The movie really did have a huge impact.
Whirling disease helped slow things down.šŸ˜

My girlfriend and I talk about moving north frequently. The only thing holding us back is the proximity of our parents
Man, hot tip, this really can't be over valued. I spend a disproportionate amount of time in a car driving at night to see my fam because we moved 4 hrs north. I don't know you family situation, but there is no greater gift that helping your Dad do something he no longer can, being the "fun" uncle to your nieces and nephews, and giving your kids the opportunity to really know and love their grandparents.

And to further screw up the state, here's his next installment "The Madison" - apparently he doesn't GAS:

They need copious amounts of grizzly maulings in that series ā€œThe Madisonā€.

Scenes that acccurately depict grizzlies invading sleeping households in downtown Bozeman and taking Fido and Kitty right out of their pet beds for a midnight snack.
Based on the casting, the show is going to have copious amounts of cougar maulings.

wise words right there, we have done the same: it's all fun and games until you want to go fishing (or insert favorite thing to do) with your 25 yr old son or daughter or grandson or other family member but the fact that you're 2,400 miles away makes it impossible. Precious time together turns into a week or two of catching up from the past 6-10 months apart instead of living life together.
after 6+ yrs away we moved back to be closer to the kids and other family/friends and it is the one thing I will never regret, the hole in my heart is now filled!

So less people move here? Or hunt here?
