The official 2025 Wyoming elk hunt for Dave N thread.

It will be opening week of rifle, which normally starts Oct 15th.

@Wildabeest

Looking at the calendar, I would imagine that camp will be starting the evening of Oct 12th and go through that week. With it currently opening on a Wednesday, it kind of messing with work schedules. Most folks will need to be back home the 20th. Hopefully, with two days of scouting, Dave can hang a tag those first few days while the hills are emptier. Let us know if that works for you.

Camp will open whenever folks arrive. Some good summer fishing up my way as well… 😜

What is the closest town to the hunting area? If you don't want to say opening on the forum I understand. I normally work in WY in the fall

I don't live too far from there and have been thinking about some scouting trips for this hunt. Good fishing is just the nudge I need.

That area is a migration corridor. There are a fair amount of residential elk but a lot of them move into the area as fall and pressure in the Hoback pushes them.

The reservoir on the west side of the area had a spillway that has great trout fishing.

Worked near Opal to Evanston one year (2002/03ish) and the drifting of snow at the Divide exit was every bit of 4-6 feet. The contractor staged a dozer to plow in the road to Simms Ranch site which is south of Kremmer. You all should try fishing the Hamms Fork for brown trout on you guys trip.
