Y'all probably know I am not a fan of bolt rifles. Way too modern. But here is one made in 1892 or so. I will say I think it is the most desirable rifle that I have seen in quite a long time. It is going up for auction in a month or so. I won't be bidding, but I think it would just spectacularly awesome to own and hunt with this rifle, far beyond any of the new rifles so often championed here. Maybe someone on HT will buy it. @Big Fin a few hunts with vintage rifles would really be nice, but a hunt with a HISTORIC rifle like this would off the charts. You could write it off as a business expense too!

Anyway, check this out. There are two links to videos on this page that you might want to see also, but be sure to catch the right side of the butt stock and some of the photo bombers in the hunting photos.

Whats a ball park estimated cost?
I have been asking around and cannot get even a guess. I think 5 figures is a given, but why not 6 figures? I have not a clue. I think they will eventually post an expected bid range at some point. I wish I had a buck or three handy but building a new house kinda taps me out. However, I do not think I'd be in play anyway.

Maybe @shrapnel
Will swoop in.

I did a little reading on Sir Alfred. He hung out in an amazing place in Kenya Colony. Perfect for teaching TR and Kermit the lion hunting ropes.

The stock engraved with that rifle’s take is pretty cool. I’d love to know the story of: 1901 Bear

I would most enjoy Theodore Roosevelt's Winchester model 1886. 45-90 cartridge. The actual Roosevelt rifle. I bet that rifle would... I don't know the word though what an amazing feeling to handle, none the less shoot. That said... I couldn't buy it.

Half the jokers on this site would be slapping a tasco on it and sending it off to get threaded for a can.

Hard to believe he killed any of those tough African animals with that little 256..

Very cool rifle!
