Spent our WI gun season (nine days), ML season (ten days), Antlerless (four day) and then a Holiday hunt at nine days(not every day,. I hunt public land in southeast WI, but I am right on the edge of private agricultural area. I did get a small buck during the first season and happy with that, don't give a rats on antlers. The zone I hunt offers quite a few doe tags, The private land has always been leased and usually hunted but this year I never saw a hunter. I did see deer, almost every day and by the end of the season I realized that the leasee had created a sanctuary area that they never entered. Wife and I do alot of hiking in the area and we are consistently seeing 50 deer in a half mile square(private).
During my seasons the deer would come out of the bedding area(private) and feed in the cut beans. After dark they would travel around in the public, hardwoods as evidenced whenever we had snow.
Just never noticed that behavior to that degree. I have seen it out west.
